First Day, Asunción
We got our Airbnb place, perfect for us! In spite of being tired our excitement got the better of us so we immediately headed out on foot to explore the city around us... and hopefully get something good to eat. We walked around observing the Asunción's blend of dilapidated under belly and shiny modern improvements, one immediately adjacent to the other. We ate at Café de Acá, a very large snack and a carbohydrate affair. Later we walked through a fancy new mall and ate vegetables and meats at a Brazilian-style place. They sold everything, vegetables, meats and all by the pound.
There are numerous attractive purple blooming trees. They're called Lapacho Trees, says dad's research.
The sky was overcast the whole day and the air somewhat hazy. After second dinner we walked outside to a distinctly heavier smoke smell in the air. We strolled back to our house, showered off the airport and city grime, rested, wrote, down and uploaded photos, shared 1000cm3 beer, went to bed finally.
